Michael Meiring Says
Regarding Annihilationism
"Annihilationism, on the other hand, poses no judicial problems. God assigns those who have rejected him to suffer punishment in hell for awhile – during the intermediate state (Lk. 16:19ff) – and then to be eternally destroyed, annihilated after the final judgment (2 Thes. 1:9). Jesus says that their punishment will be eternal (Mt. 25:46). In other words, their fate will be irreversible. In short, I believe that those who reject the gospel will suffer for their sins in hell – not by being endlessly tortured with literal flames, but by being separated from God’s love. ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT, WHEN CHRIST RETURNS, THEY WILL BE ETERNALLY DESTROYED." [2]
Apologies
Our humble apologies for wrongfully quoting an article by Keith Walker of Evidence Ministries, entitled "Paradise & Punctuation" [3], as representing the views of Michael Meiring - the footer reading, "A special thanks to Michael Meiring of Defending the Faith Ministries for THIS INSIGHT" - leading us to assume his support. The article itself providing no clear indication of which "insight" was being referred too. Thanks to both Michael and Keith Walker for the correction.
Commentary
Lk. 23v43
